Ini artikel tentang sekolahku, SMA N 1 Klaten. Aku buat untuk majalah Dialogue, Sanata Dharma. Setahun yang lalu sih. Kalu yang belum baca silakan dee, lewat blog ku ajahh. Hehehe buat mas Danang terimakasih kesempatannya. Tapi versi yang ini unrated, karena kalau di majalah Dialogue Uda di edit. Yaah karena majalah bahasa Ingris jadi aku buat dalam Bahasa Inggris. SMA N 1 Klaten. What is your first thought when you hear this name? Well-known, clever students, legendary, old what else? I hope you don’t think something bad of course. SMA N 1 Klaten is a senior high school in the central of Klaten Regency which is founded in November 5th, 1957. According the history, there were only two schools in Klaten. There were SMA N 1 Klaten, the morning school and SMA N 2 Klaten the evening school. Year by year, this school was getting better and better. The graduated students of SMA N 1 Klaten have better quality than the others. Till now, at 50 years old SMA N 1 Klaten still keep trying to produce high-quality graduated students. With a vision ,“ Leading in Scholl Achievement and Student’s Noble Character” (Unggul Dalam Prestasi, Luhur Dalam Budi Pekerti), SMA N 1 Klaten wants to make its students are not only smart but also good in behavior. That’s what I called high-quality, right?
From the first year of this school till this fiftieth, there are so many achievements that this school has reached, not only in education side but also extra curricular side. Who do not know, that the 1st Winner of International Astronomy Olympiad in 2005 is a SMA N 1 Klaten’s student. What a proud student I am! Not only that, the 1st Winner of National Biology Olympiad in 2005 is this school’s student too. Or our great history, that SMA N 1 Klaten is the top of PMDK in Indonesia around 1980’s, from 100 students who followed PMDK, there were 93 students who passed it.
In the other side, the achievements of extra curricular are good too. For example, Student’s Science Club (KIR) that has presented the 2nd Winner Trophy of The Imtaq KIR competition in the national level a year ago.
And then the Basketball Club of Smansa, I do not doubt this team as the best team around Klaten. They always won in the local competitions, such as SMA N 2 Klaten Cup, SMA N 1 Jogonalan Cup etc. This team was the 2nd Winner of “GRANAT Cup/ Bupati Cup se-Eks Karesidenan Surakarta&Yogyakarta” in 2007.
EMAPAL or Emansipasi Pencinta Alam Of SMA N 1 Klaten also is a good club. They have just held a “ Sirkuit Panjat Tebing se-Kab. Klaten” competition last year and so many else activities such as what they called, “Pendakian Masal (Regularly Event)”, “Lintas Alam Competition”, “Susur Gua Vertikal” and so on. There must be left lots of achievements of Scout activity and PRATA (Pratiyodha Paramitha) our flag ceremony officers, that I couldn’t write because we have limited space for this school profile.
To help the development of student’s quality, school provides many facilities. There are science and language laboratories, halls, tennis field, basketball field, wall for climbing, library, mosques and many else. SMA N 1 Klaten which has status SNBI (Sekolah Nasional Bertaraf Internasional) has done some activities to increase not only teachers’ quality but also students’ quality. There are English courses for teachers, invite the native speakers, English Debate Seminar and many else. The serious action of SMA N 1 Klaten to develop this school is that this school’s principal, Drs. Widiyarto, M.Pd. , would fly to Queensland in order to looking for the sister school on February 24th, 2008 and would bring the result on March 2nd, 2008. This is a bilateral relationship of two schools to increase their quality and knowledge. This step is done to follow the previous one, that one of SMA N 1 Klaten’s teacher non English teachers has been sent to Queensland to have one month English course for Immersion Program.
Just like what I have said that SMA N 1 Klaten has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. SMA N 1 Klaten has produced many graduated students and they have been spread anywhere and have many kind professions now. But what if they become to be SMA N 1 Klaten’s teacher? Not only two or three teachers but more than ten teachers of SMA N 1 Klaten are graduated from here. That makes me shock is our principal now, Drs. Widiyanto, M.Pd. , is a graduated student from here too on 1979-1980. They are glad coming back and teaching their very, very young brothers and sisters. Drs. Widiyarto, M.Pd. , says that he will try to bring SMA N 1 Klaten up to higher level and quality. He will bring this school more and more discipline and prepare the students to face the globalization era well. “I will work with SITI”, he said to me. Yes, SITI. It’s not the name of your friends or your neighbor. It’s a magic word. It is a short term of“ Sadar, Ikhlas, Tanggung Jawab dan Ibadah”. It’s proper to follow, right?
Last but not least, I invite all of graduated students of SMA N 1 Klaten to visit their lovely senior high school not only to remind their memories or to know the last condition of this school, but also to meet their young brothers and sisters, share their experiences and inspire us. I say to all of graduated students of SMA N 1 Klaten,” Please visit us to share your experiences of the world and inspire us with your story of life struggling, your brilliant ideas or the most important one, How to Behave!! Help your brothers and sisters to prepare their future. What is wrong to visit us in your leisure time?” We will open our arms as wide as possible.
We’ll be waiting you. I dare you to inspire us.
